Remember when we used to talk about the possibility of a paperless office?
That was when the potential of technology was beginning to excite us all. We were going to be able to store everything online and wouldn’t have to use paper anymore. Better still we wouldn’t have piles of paper on our desks.
Everyone I know has the opposite problem. They have more paper on their desks than ever before and keeping a check on it becomes a never ending problem.
Reverberating in my mind is also the message of some teacher way back who used to say: Untidy desk, untidy mind!
Clear the Clutter and Clear the Mind
Today’s tip I heard from Michael Sheargold. He says that decluttering is a TASK we have to do it every day.
Handle only once, every piece of paper that crosses our desk.
Start with what comes across your desk today but also take an extra 10 minutes every day this week to clear what is already on your desk.
Discover how productive you are as a result. Better still discover what it’s like to come into your office to a clean desk everyday.
