  • OzPlan Financial Services Pty. Ltd.

In February 2014 I engaged Dr Maree Harris PhD to speak at the OzPlan Financial Services Annual Conference. Her presentation was “How To Be A Highly Successful Professional”. She provided a grounding in the basics of great client relationships and then included the latest thinking from around the world on this topic; conference delegates participated with workshop activities. Maree demonstrated great interest in attendees, taking the time to talk with them informally to get to know her audience better. Since our conference I have received a lot of very positive unsolicited feedback from delegates. Many found the tools learned most helpful in their professional relationships. I would recommend Maree to any organisation aspiring to best practice in the soft skills of its personnel. Brendan Smith B.Bus CFP FIPA GAICD Director OzPlan Financial Services Pty Ltd

Thank you, Maree, for running the workshop on “Leadership for Changing Times” for the Faculty. The insights the staff and I received from the workshop were invaluable as we have just been through a major restructure. The staff were able to see how they are all leaders regardless of the position they hold which is absolutely necessary for them to grow their career. I am sure that the tips and hints they took away from the day will be valuable for them all. • Pleasant Street Primary School, Ballarat.

Pleasant Street Primary School engaged Maree Harris to work with staff members to develop their Emotional Intelligence levels. We initially wanted to develop a shared language around Emotional Intelligence with all staff so that we could have meaningful and productive conversations. Maree was able to provide a workshop that had us look at and understand our own emotional processes and triggers. The session was so well received and the participants were so positive that we invited Maree back to work with other teachers and our Education Support staff, as well. The staff really appreciated having a professional development session about their own growth, as most are about the students’ growth. They also recognised the benefit to students of staff participating in this type of professional Development. Our staff now have the shared language to facilitate mutual growth conversations as well as processes and methods to follow to continue our growth in Emotional Intelligence. Maree’s manner was both intellectually and emotionally stimulating, she was able to model the skills she was advocating, an excellent learning process. We recommend Maree’s workshop to any school or business where human relationships are paramount and that certainly pertains to the teaching professions.

I have worked with Maree in an on-going professional relationship for an extensive period of time. She provides a service that empowers the individual to extend herself and risk beyond the mindset of perceived possibilities and potential. Her style is collaborative, supportive and creative within a values based context that is respectful to the client. Maree is committed to the journey of the client, challenges static thinking, behaviour and attitudes and is perceptive, passionate and skilled in supporting the client in achieving success within a process of reflective practice and change. Maree has coached and supported me through several changes in career, one of which was a complete change of career. Each time she has supported and empowered me to define my vision, skills, capabilities and potential. I had to stretch to take the risk of new directions and challenges. She also helped debunk self-perceptions that were blocking the way forward to a better position of self-belief. In doing so she helped me believe that all of these opportunities were possible and well within my reach and scope. In summary, Maree provides a reflective, proactive environment of support, challenge and encouragement that explores the potential of the individual. She is able to work with her client to help them change goals into reality with a clear, dynamic process that encompasses both soft and hard skills. She understands the business context, challenges and advantages of the global world and has integrated this knowledge to help my professional change and transitions. • Rob Bihar, Financial Analyst, Geelong

The Group Coaching Program I did with Maree has challenged me to think about my goal as a business opportunity (as opposed to a hobby). I am beginning to feel I have a clearer direction on how to achieve this goal. Maree has shared her own story of starting a business with me in the one on one coaching calls. This has been invaluable to me. Maree’s follow up after each call has made me feel important (that is,my idea is a good one and should be pursued). I have looked forward to the group sessions, in particular the sharing of everyone’s progress. The timing of the coaching call (2 weeks after the face to face group coaching session) has kept the momentum up and has kept me accountable. We have all made significant steps in the last 4 months. Your stories have inspired me. I feel as though I am not alone in wanting to make a significant change. The opportunity to share my goal with the group and receive feedback and ideas has been quite empowering. I have my first client and I am on my way. Thankyou Maree for making it happen.

  • Women in New Careers Pty. Ltd.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of Maree’s Group Coaching Program. Momentum and trust was built within the group through our monthly meetings and monthly individual phone coaching calls with Maree. I was challenged every meeting and phone call to assist me to find clarity, and to address incongruencies within my purpose. The interactive and flexible group dynamic meant that each member of the group was given the time they needed to gain insight and move forward with their projects. Personally I was challenged when my journey deviated and the tangents were reigned in to give me focus. I have exited the supportive zone of the program with much more direction and motivation for my journey over the next few years. Leanne Cleghorn Director Women in New Careers Pty. Ltd.

  • CPA Geelong

We approached Maree Harris of People Empowered to assist us with our Professional Development program. Maree was fantastic in working with us to develop a ‘soft skills’ program and was more than willing to customise sessions to meet our needs. She made sure she understood the profession and the challenges for developing less-technical aspects of the CPA’s role in a busy workplace. Her delivery style is very engaging and she uses examples that we can all relate to in our own working lives to demonstrate her point. Maree’s sessions have been a welcome addition to our Professional Development calendar! CPA Geelong.
